CAF CL Semi (1)

The race for who becomes Africa’s strongest football club is in motion and on April 18, fans are going to see who wins the fight and becomes the champion in the final.

Mamelodi Sundowns vs Espérance de Tunis

Last year, the Brazilians were one step away from the trophy but lost 3-2 to Pyramids in the final but they are here again this season and within touching distance of the trophy.

Many of their toughest opponents in the form of many top African football teams even with the defending champions have all been eliminated.

Mamelodi Sundowns started the semi-final tie and got a 1-0 victory at Espérance’s ground.

It was Brayan León who scored the only goal to make it four in the campaign. This means that the Colombian is ahead of Trézéguet to win the Golden Boot.

In this season, it has been the Brazilians with the best attack as they have scored 15 goals in 9 matches which is the best record among all the teams that are in the CAF Champions League semi finals 2026.

Even though they lose the first leg, it is safe to say that Espérance will not just concede defeat. They are going to do their best to get to the final after 6 years away.

We have seen that The Blood and Golds are not afraid of the big names as they beat Al Ahly 4-2 on aggregate in the quarter-finals.

There is nothing that is certain but there is cause to believe.

RS Berkane vs AS FAR

The Moroccan derby CAF Champions League in such a late stage in the competition is one of the biggest surprises of the tournament.

AS FAR did the unthinkable when they beat the reigning champions, Pyramids. The secret to their triumph is that they have got a strong defense. Les Militaires’ have only conceded 4 goals in 9 matches.

For RS Berkane, it was a comfortable journey from the group stage as they got 10 points and beat Al Hilal from Omdurman in the QF. The Orange Boys are very dangerous when they play in position and on the counter.

Mounir Chouiar, the left winger for the team, is one player who can singlehandedly change the course of the match.

AS FAR won the first leg but it is clearly not over as RS Berkane can do the comeback.

Who will win?

From the results in the first legs, it looks like Mamelodi Sundowns and AS FAR are going to be through to the finals.

But then the CAF Champions League is not new to surprise turnarounds.
